About Prepare
Prepare is a free public guide from Lead the Way Logistics & IT, LLC in Killeen, Texas. It helps households get ready for emergencies with calm, sourced, practical steps.
Where the guidance comes from
Ready.gov and FEMA, the CDC, the American Red Cross, NOAA and the National Weather Service, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, and local emergency offices. Each checklist item and risk links to its source. Where we add our own suggestion, we say so.

A note on two-way radios
FRS radios need no license. GMRS radios need an FCC license; one license covers your family members. Ham (amateur) radio needs an FCC license, which requires passing an exam. Encrypted or coded messages are not allowed on ham or GMRS. Check the FCC rules before you transmit: FRS, GMRS, amateur radio.
Safety
This is general information, not medical, legal or professional advice. Never run a generator, grill or camp stove indoors or in a garage. In an emergency, call 911 and follow local officials.
